Silicon compounds

BORFLEX has developed BORSIL, a range of silicone elastomers aimed at being used in extreme temperature and/or harsh chemical (fluorinated silicone) conditions.

There are several lines of silicones:

  • General purpose silicones, temperature resistance ranging from -50 ° C to + 200 ° C which can be raised to 250 ° C,
  • High tear strength silicones, standard silicones with high tearing resistance,
  • High resilience silicones at low DRC (permanent compression set)
  • Low residual compression set silicones with a temperature resistance ranging from -110 ° C to + 200 ° C,
  • EHV silicones (very high temperatures) with a continuous resistance under temperatures ranging from -50 ° C to + 300 ° C,
  • Thermoelectric conductive silicones,
  • “smart” silicones, photo luminescent type (3 colours available) or thermochromics silicones (possibility to select temperature and transition colour , possibility to program 3 colours and 3 temperatures).

BORFLEX silicones are present on numerous market places. They can comply with the requirement s of ATA 50, 52, 53 and 54 for silicones and ATA 61and 63 for fluorinated silicones.

“Smart” material

 A “Smart” material reacts to its environment or to stress  by modifying one or several of its properties (colour or luminescence for instance).

BORFLEX has developed an elastomeric “smart” range of compounds:

  • Photo luminescent silicone compound (3 colours are available)
  • Thermochromic silicones compound (possibility to select the temperature and the colour transition, possibility to program 3 colours and 3 temperatures).

Thermal neutrons absorption

BORFLEX is the French and European leader of the rubber industry.
It has been certified ISO-9001 for many years and has developed and optimized this mixture of rubber and B4C powder that is FLEXIBORE®

Our plant is equipped for the confection/making and cutting of B4C calendaring of the flexible sheet.

As a rubber solution provider, BORFLEX remains committed to innovation in its products and technology. BORFLEX has developed and optimized FLEXIBORE®, a specific powdered bore (B4C) natural rubber compound.

FLEXIBORE® finished product contains 50% of its weight in B4C powder. The B10 included in our material absorbs the neutrons. The diffusion effect is not significant if compared to the neutron absorption. FLEXIBORE® is also used in neutron spectrometry to reduce background noise.
